A distinguished visual artist, mentor, and lecturer with over 35 years of experience in drawing, painting, and Arabic calligraphy. His artistic journey began with school exhibitions and creative endeavors in his youth, culminating in his first solo exhibition in Arabic calligraphy.
Throughout his career, Hikmat has produced an extensive collection of more than 850 artworks, including oil paintings and mixed-media pieces. His distinctive style merges abstraction and expressionism, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship characterized by bold lines, vivid color contrasts, and a dynamic expressive approach. To date, approximately 600 of his works have been acquired by collectors across Europe, the Arab world, and beyond.
A seasoned educator, Hikmat has served as an art teacher at the Teachers Training Institute in Suwayda (2002-2013) and as a lecturer at the Second College of Fine Arts, University of Damascus (2010-2015), where he taught painting, art history, color science, and the philosophy of art.
His achievements include participation in over 25 solo and group exhibitions worldwide, including international events in the UAE, Lebanon, and the prestigious Sharjah Biennial for Arabic Calligraphy. He has also been honored with numerous awards, including the Al Mazraa Literary and Artistic Prize (2002, 2005, 2009).
Hikmat's creative process is deeply rooted in expressionism and abstraction, often incorporating unconventional materials such as old wood and collage techniques to create harmony between line and color. His work reflects intense emotions, cultural narratives, and a profound connection to his environment, earning recognition from critics and art enthusiasts alike.
